MirrorBit® SPI Multi-I/O Flash Memory
Spansion’s family of MirrorBit SPI Multi-I/O devices lowers costs, pin counts and delivers high performance.

32Mb up to 256Mb densities and features the industry's fastest serial read performance in addition to leading Multi-I/O throughput:

** Effective clock frequency of 320 MHz
This leading edge performance of up to 40MB/s (80 MHz per I/O in four-way mode) is more than 6 times the transfer rate of standard serial flash memories running at a clock rate of 50MHz, and makes the MirrorBit SPI Multi-I/O family capable of providing execute-in-place (XIP) capabilities for a variety of industrial and consumer electronics applications with performance that matches or in some cases exceeds conventional parallel I/O NOR Flash memory
In addition to higher performance, the family offers:
- Enhanced security features via a freeze bit, locking the memory array and preventing additional writes to the device memory;
- A flexible sector architecture, providing small sector options (4KB or 8KB) for parameter data storage;
- One Time Programmable (OTP) area for permanent, secure identification.
- Industry standard packages (SOIC, WSON, BGA)
All devices use a Universal Footprint with consistent packaging and pin outs, enabling users to migrate from lower to higher density serial Flash memory without having to alter board layouts. The Universal Footprint provides the efficiency to develop solutions based on a single platform and leverages hardware and software design across multiple product lines, speeding time-to-market.
Multi-IO SPI Applications include:

- DVD players/recorders
- Set-top boxes
- High-end printers
- Optical disk drives
- Personal computers
