Spansion FM0+ Family of 32-bit ARM Cortex Microcontrollers

The Spansion FM0+ family, which is based on the ARM® Cortex®-M0+ core, is designed for low-power and cost-sensitive applications such as white goods, sensors, meters, HMI systems, power tools and internet of things (IoT) battery powered or energy harvesting wearable devices. These microcontrollers can be easily embedded into systems adopting 8-, 16- or 32-bit MCUs, accelerating product development and reducing development costs. The FM0+ family includes two groups for ultra-low-power and cost-effective applications.

FM solutions include:
Touch for capacitive touch inputs (buttons, sliders, scroll wheels, X/Y pads)
Connect USB a complete solution to generate USB ready template projects for USB Device and Host

FM0+ Family Overview

The Spansion FM0+ family, which is based on the ARM® Cortex®-M0+ core, is designed for low-power and cost-sensitive applications such as white goods, sensors, meters, HMI systems, power tools and internet of things (IoT) battery powered or engery harvesting wearable devices. These microcontrollers can be easily embedded into systems adopting 8-, 16- or 32-bit MCUs, accelerating product development and reducing development costs. The FM0+ family includes two groups for ultra-low-power and cost-effective applications.

Performance and Energy Savings

The MCUs are based on the ARM Cortex-M0+ core, the most energy-efficient ARM processor available today.

High-Performance Flash Memory

Memory densities range from 56KB to 256KB Flash, with up to 64KB RAM. Flash memory features a true zero-wait-state operation at full CPU speed and data retention of up to 20 years.

Other Major Features

A simplified bus matrix reduces power consumption. The devices also include local clock gating for each peripheral, a separated clock divider for the CPU and peripherals, low pin counts, and low memory density.

Ultra-Low-Power Group

The devices in the ultra-low-power group have an operating voltage range of 1.65V to 3.6V, and a maximum CPU clock frequency of 40MHz and an RTC mode current of 0.7μA. The devices also feature a segment LCD controller and set of analog peripherals. The products are available with pin counts ranging from 80 to 120.

Entry-level Group

Major features of this cost-effective group include an operating voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V, a 40MHz CPU frequency, up to 88KB Flash, and 6KB RAM. The devices are available in packages ranging from 32 to 48 pins.
