Spansion contributes to education programs that prepare students for higher education with an emphasis on engineering and technology. Our investments in kindergarten through high school (K-12) education targets programs that increase student proficiency and interest in math and science. We believe that great teachers are the key to successful learning and we support programs that provide teacher development and improve classroom instruction. At the university level, we invest in engineering and technology programs to ensure a strong, skilled and prepared workforce.

Education highlights include:

  • Partnership with Baan Put School (Klangkajan, Petchaburi, Thailand)
  • Bookspring – Non-profit organization that distributes reading materials to local schools (Austin, Texas)
  • Back to School Backpack program through Sunnyvale Community Services (Sunnyvale, California)
  • Computer Sponsorship Program for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil, Sungal Sedu in Banting, Selangor and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seksyen 4, Bandar Kinrara in Puchong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
  • Multiple Computer donation to The Cheshire House – a live-in facility offering education and training to physically challenged workers (Penang, Malaysia)
  • Resource Area for Teachers (RAFT) – a non-profit organization dedicated to helping educators transform the learning experience through “hands on” education (Sunnyvale, California)
  • First Tech Challenge – program to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology (Austin, Texas)
  • Educational assistance through book drive to support Tekek Primary School (Tioman Island, Malaysia)
  • Austin Community College Summer Academy - Summer programs in math and science and college awareness (Austin, Texas)
  • Partnerships with Wat-phasuk Maneechak School and Chalermprakiat 48 Pransa School for low income and children orphaned by AIDS (Bangkok, Thailand)
  • Support for school-based robotics program in three secondary schools (Penang, Malaysia)
  • Project Help – Educational assistance for children in Sunnyvale schools (Sunnyvale, California)
