According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), data centers are expected to consume more than 100 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity a year by 2011, up from 60 billion kWh in 2006 at a total cost of $7.4 billion annually. Spansion EcoRAM replaces power-hungry DRAM in data center servers to slash energy consumption by 75 percent and to increase memory capacity eight-fold.
