Long-term Product Support

At Spansion, we realize that vehicles designed today could stay on the road for perhaps as long as 20 years, and take a minimum of 18 months to design.  We work closely with automotive manufacturers to ensure we meet their performance, density and supply needs over the life of the vehicle.   Moreover, we ensure the reliability of our Flash memory by performing complex and extensive test procedures on each device prior to shipment.  We even work with customers to develop custom test conditions and test suites.

Strict Certification

The automotive industry is governed by stringent standards intended to maintain the quality and reliability of components used in automotive applications.  Spansion manufacturing facilities and site operations are certified to the stringent ISO/TS 16949:2002 worldwide automotive quality management system specification.  Spansion also works to ensure that its Flash memory products satisfy the requirements of the AEC-Q100 standard, which defines stress tests, test conditions and qualification requirements for all components used in automobiles.

Rich Feature Sets and Performance

The automotive environment requires robust solutions that can withstand harsh road and environmental conditions.  Spansion Flash memory operates over a wide temperature range, with packaged devices specified to operate from -40° to +125° C and Known Good Die (KGD) configurations operating from -40° to +145° C.  Spansion products are also offered in burst mode to ensure rapid code execution and therefore faster vehicle response times.

Platform Solutions for Reduced Cost and Time-to-market

Spansion ensures package and pin-out compatibility of Flash memory solutions across its product line.  Our universal footprint enables manufacturers to design electronic systems based on a single platform, and scale code and data storage capacity based on the features and functionality of the target end system.  Basic or highly sophisticated infotainment and navigation systems can be designed by simply swapping Flash memory devices, which enables manufacturers to leverage their hardware and software development across their product line for reduced cost and time-to-market.
